ENDURANCE through a test of GOD .......
On August 21, 1980, is the day that we are in love. As at the date on which we have lawfully married husband and wife. Our one year engagement was ended. After our marriage ceremony which was held in moderation only. Followed by the ceremony at the bride's wedding on August 26, 1980. On this day we have placed on the dais as” the King Day” to be announced to relatives and also the VIPs at the invitation of the bride's family.
This was followed on September 1, 1980, I was appointed as a State Administrative Officer. I was posted to the Housing Division, Office of the State Secretary Office, my job title as Assistant State Secretary (Housing). Beginning on that date (the date coincided with my birthday date) we were both full of life with love and affection very happy family.
After almost a year of our marriage, God has given a baby daughter as exciters and our love binder. Auspicious date falls on 9 June 1981. Summarized story, the next year is blessed with a baby son was on October 13, 1982. Having a baby daughters and a son in the past two years after our marriage, our domestic happiness so tasting once. I am as head of the family, thank God that I has fulfil my responsibility as husband and head of the family and the wife should also acted as a wife and mother to care for the family's needs.
Nevertheless, "I think it looks hot till afternoon, but rain happening at noon." It's all God has destined for us, Happiness and harmony of our family was tested by God to give me a little pain in 1984, I have suffered a serious right knee pain, it is a pain in the late 1960's long before storming back. Cause I was admitted to the hospital for treatment several months.
Starting the date of this incident, our family have a grave situation where my wife had to take care of myself and the family due to my sickness which I could not walk. My right leg cemented with "Plaster of Paris" (POP) for one year. My wife had to work hard to take care of me such as clean my urine and defecation, bathing and also provide food and medicine for me . After a month in the hospital, I was discharge to go home and be given medical leave for 6 months. But my feet are still on the cement 'POP' continuously for a year, to ensure that the damaged knee joint can heal and I able to walk as normal. During my medical leave period. I have to continue my treatment with an orthopedic specialist. The doctor advised my knee need to prolong for POP till one year to ensure the healing process can be done naturally and with proper medication treatment.
When I was facing in thus greave pain situation. I find my wife is a good person and honest to her husband. She looked after me with a vengeance without any complaints and grievances. Thanks be to God who gives me mate with a woman who is honest and kind. Once past eight months, my knee wraps cement was opened and myself began to walk but need the help of a crushes. The effects of the treatment procedures of my knee, unfortunately the knee cannot fully bend, it moved only about 25% of the normal situation, it causing me to walk like wearing a prosthetic leg. From that date, myself can be include as a person with a deformed foot like wearing a prosthetic leg, when pursue the prayers, while sitting between the two prostrations the right leg had to be brought forward discounter. Thus unfortunate situation I can go through with the full awareness persevere because God has destined, perhaps to test my faith and devotion to Him. Time passed quickly, and I can accepted the right leg pain as destiny that was given to me and my family. so our marriage intact as before and still fulfill to performed our goal of happily family.
Time will move quickly toward its destination. During our wedding period 1981 to 1995 we have been blessed with seven children, four boys and three girls. Relevant period is the time that we experienced married happiness without any major crisis occurs. I climb as high as the family head, thanks are due to Allah Almighty, in the grace and guidance, we allow our family to grow very well. While God expects us happiness family even though my knee illness.
Yet God has given me a second test, this test may be destined to happen after the first test I can faces with imperturbable. This test commencing on March 2, 2001. Upon completion of down prayer, my wife told me that her have extreme headaches. I bring her to the clinic to get doctor treatment. According to the doctors her blood pressure is normal. The doctor prescribe injections and oral medication for pain relief. That night my wife pain under control.
At noon the next day, my wife informed her right foot and hand feeling numbness and a bit weak to move. After night prayers my wife was vomiting, and once again I took her to see a doctor at the same clinic. Doctor confirmed her blood pressure was normal, but since my wife suffered vomiting, doctor advised me to bring her to the hospital to get further treatment.
After night prayer, My son and I accompany my wife to the hospital which is about 3 kilometer from my house. We arrived in the emergency department approximately 9.45 pm. After registration and wait for about 2 hours because of that time there is a serious accident cases. The Doctor called my wife into the examination room. I accompany her, the doctor has to undergo rigorous inspection and advised my wife to admit in the hospital ward for further examined by specialist doctors. My wife was admitted to the hospital about 1 am. When my wife was warded, I informed her to return home to take rest. My son will take care of his mom in the hospital for the whole night.
The next morning I woke up early as usual before early morning prayer, to prepare for the prayer. Suddenly a ringing phone rang and I answered the phone and heard my son in a tense situation " Dad have to coming soon to the hospital because mom was unconscious a few minutes ago" I replied spontaneous "Ok son you just stayed and look for your mom. Dad will coming soon after early morning prayer ". when I was finished performed the early morning prayer, I immediately rushed to the hospital.
When I was arrived at the hospital, I found my son lonely sit near his mom bad. I was told by my son that his mother was brought to the X ray room to undergo X ray and underwent an angiogram. About 7 am my wife has finished the examination procedure and she is still in a coma situation. My wife was transferred from the ordinary ward to intensive care unit (ICU) immediately . After the x ray films and report was given, the doctor informed me that my wife suffered bleeding in the brain and it causes coma to my wife, she also needs to be supported on a ventilator to allow sufficient oxygen passed. Doctor further informed that my wife needed to go for surgery immediately before the blood in her brain bleeding to the ear nerve system. If this is the case is likely to happen my wife could not be saved. The doctor also informed that the surgery can not be done immediately in the hospital, because there was no Neurosurgeon
Specialist, he went abroad for a medical conference. The in charge doctor from the hospital said the situation of my wife was treated just to control the bleeding in the brain. Hopefully with treatment given at the time was able to stabilize the situation. The doctor Also told that I could inform all next of kin to come to visit my wife in the hospital because she was critical and maybe it's time my wife almost be gone forever soon.

The doctor Also told that I could inform all next of kin to come to visit my wife in the hospital because she was critical and maybe it's time my wife almost be gone forever soon.
Upon hearing the information from the doctor whose treating my wife, I became uneasy situation, I talk with my father. If the wife dies where are her remains will be buried later. My father at the time advised me to remain calm and patient, as well as prayers Multiply the wishes and ask God to keep my wife survived. After offering afternoon prayers I pray to Allah that wish to apply to be a solution to save my wife.
Exactly at 3 pm, VVIP accompanied by her ADC come to visit my wife in hospital, during the visit she had ordered the doctor to send my wife to the Private Hospital in Kuala Lumpur for immediate surgery. Subsequently I was asked by the hospital management to purchase a total numbers of 14 seats of plane, in order my wife to be sent to Kuala Lumpur with Malaysian Airline System (MAS) flight. . Thousand thank to the VVIP for her kindness help to arrange my lovely wife for further treatment. She is very kind person which I well know her when I was attached to her office for nearly 4 years before.
I was with a colleague (a retired Air Force Major ( Malaysian Air force) go to Air Port. Upon arriving there, I was told that the ticket was sold out for two days flight schedule. I sat down and tears when listening, filled with feelings of frustration and just pray to God to give us the way to solve the problem is so complicated. While driving a car with a friend to the hospital, my friend proposed to try to call Sugai Besi RMAF to get Charity flight. When we phone to our RMAF informed that the ADC to the VVIP has made an application to the RMAF to take a patient from Kota Bharu to Kuala Lumpur. Upon hearing the good news, I am very grateful to Allah SWT for giving me a way to overcome the problem is so acute and short tim required.
The Force asked me to get ready at 7.30 pm for departure to KL. The hospital management also told me to purchase 2 flight ticket for accompany doctor and nurse from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu. I bought the tickets as requested At 8.50 pm I, my wife, doctor and nurse escorts boarded an ambulance to the airport for a military plane that was waiting there.
At approximately 9:25 pm CN235 Malaysian Royal aircraft departed from Sultan Ismail Petra Air Pot. During a journey of about 30 minutes in the air, doctors check the condition of my wife, she still in a coma and her respiratory system assisted with manually pumped control by the nurse. to help my wife breathing .I was sitting besides my wife watched the two of them resolve their duties . Suddenly the laptops used by doctors run out of battery causing doctors can not monitor the blood pressure, respiration and pulse rate as display monitors of laptop been extinguished. Doctors began to look nervous and panic. I sat next to the bed of my wife was not able to do anything, just lip unfailing read verses of the Qur'an and pray. When doctors try to check my wife pulse on her wrist. But the doctor will not be able to detect it. Doctors began lingering his head in disappointment, possible for note by a nurse, made without any speech. I was nervous and thought in mind that my wife will be left myself and children forever. Tears flowed down my cheeks without realizing it. What can I do with this critical situation, I just able to pray to God and read a few verses of the Quran.
For the past couple of nervous situation, I was suddenly awakened by a voice of doctor "Thank God," he raised his hand to signal as OK, and his face began to look calm and cheerful. followed by a smile thanks to the nurse. At 10.30 pm we were told by Sergeant Air Force that our flight will arrive at Subang Airport shortly.
Upon arriving at the Subang Airport, The ambulance was ready to take us to the Private Hospital in Kuala Lumpur. The trip from the airport to the hospital Kuala Lumpur is about 1 hour. On the way to the hospital, we had to run slower due congested traffic. I can only pray to God that our trips is simplify and my beloved wife is survived.
When we arrived at the hospital, The specialist doctors (neurosurgeon) is waiting. As soon as my wife admitted to the hospital, doctors made detail inspections . Then doctors, Dato 'Dr Arumugam (Neurosurgeon) told me that my wife is stable. He was at that time undergoing surgery anticipated to be completed at 2am. The doctor said, If I m agreed, my wife head surgery will be done tomorrow morning at 8 am. I thus agree with the doctor's advice as my wife in a stable condition. The doctor also told me that my wife's after operation effects; may have paralyzed right hands and feet. Beside that she possibly could not talk due to her tongue will be short and stiff.
I was asked by the hospital management to pay a deposit of RM5, 000.00. I am a bit shock to hear such big amount of deposit. Luckily I have a credit card to pay for hospital deposit. From this incident I am thinking about the poor people, during emergency of such situation, how they going to pay the big amount. The hospital procedure should be customers friendly and the authority should look seriously on this matter to ease the poor people to get better hospital treatment during emergency cases.
Regarding the doctor advise to do the head surgery, I am thinking of the possibility of success on the head operation, According of one specialist doctor from a government hospital advise me not to do the operation to my wife head, due to his experience that, the head surgery chances to be success is about 50% only. To get a proximity good decision to this matter. I started my own calculation of possibility of success about 50 %. The failure is also about 50%. Without any surgery her chances to leave only 50%. The other 50% only through doa to God for His blessing and gave a good result So I am confident that if my wife going for operation she still have good chances to leave 50% . I made my own argument that if I took the chances of 50% to be success in operation, that mean by doing the operation my wife still have chances to live by 75%. So I am strongly agreed with doctor advice to go for head surgery for my wife to safe her live and recover from coma.
After considering several possibilities of many angles, I went to see a doctor and told him that I am agreed to sign a letter of consent for my wife head surgery. During the submission the form, I said to doctor "I gave mandate to you to do anything just to save her life, I will pray to the God". After discussions with doctors , I in good faith make a phone call to a few people, like SS Dato 'Mufti, SS Dato' deputy mufti, SS Dato 'Khadi Besar’ and a few more ustaz to aware of the situation of my wife in a coma and will post the next day and beg wish them to be held prayer request form and simplify all the surgical instruments business.
Once everything is settled, I went to my sister house at Semenyeh. When we arrived at Semenyeh, clock showed almost 4 am. That night I could not sleep well, my mind still remembered the wife still in coma situation at the hospital, I am try to imagine what would happen to our family if my beloved wife can not be saved. What will happen to my seven children those are still growing up in school, need the love of a mother and the nursing care of the mother, especially remembered how the future of the youngest daughter (four years old). She is able to grow up like other children if his mother had gone forever, and what will happen if I also need a place to love and care poured everyday needs, for which there is no substitute wife, may have married another, and what will so the structure of our family before this very happy.To meet the leisure time before eight o'clock the following morning, with my uncles and cousins together we pray to seeking God's blessing that all matter for saving of beloved wife from death.
The next morning about 7.50 am. My family and I have been in the hospital awaiting at surgery ward. Exactly at 8.00 am a nurse and her assistant bring my wife to the operating room. I wait with bated breath outside the operating room. Surgery is expected to take between 3 to 4 hours. During awaiting completion of surgery, has been capable I just pray and read the scriptures in the Quran, would to God that the surgery successfully. At 11.50 am the wife taken out of the operating room and brought into the ICU ward. The doctor on duty informed that my wife will recover back in the period of 3 to 4 hours later, I was allowed to be in the foyer of the ICU and was only able to see through tinted windows only. Having a few hours after the surgery my wife was not yet awake of, but all of her body system is functioning normal and manageable. At 3.00 pm I was in the right in the nurse to sit on the side of the bed where the wife is given the treatment.
Having been with the wife assume someone is born less than 30 minutes I found the wife was able move hand movements even eye still closed. At 4.15 pm the wife was able to open her eyes but she still look weak between conscious and unconscious. I persevere to wife developments in the side of his bed while reading sentences and sentences thousand dinnar chair. At about 4:25 pm my wife opened her eyes and issuing the word "hungry". Alhandulillah I give thanks to God for their healing to my wife, just how happy a husband who are told by doctors that his wife may not be able to speak after surgery. BUT the power of Almighty God, and his power over all other creatures on earth. Man plans and God just decide. These positive developments I know the nurse assigned to care for my wife. Nurses tell me whether water spells to be given to my wife, she would help us. Speechless heart to hear because she was an Indian, but has a good heart trying to help patients and their families with a variety of efforts and provided care through modern medical remedies. So I gave the nurse zam-zam water Yasin read that I brought before.
The next day my wife was able to project a speedy recovery and I never complacent guard every time, except in one or two hours a day will go to nephew house, not far from the hospital for bathing and changing clothes. This routine continued until the day 29.'s Wife was allowed to return for further treatment at the hospital, Kota Bharu.
When I was taking care of my wife in the hospital I was approached by a doctor and hospital management officers, while they talked with my doctor said “your wife really lucky, because the nerves in the brain surgery to remove the blood flowing is in an area that concerned with "memory" if the wrong surgical procedure it will make my wife lost her memory. When the doctor said I flash back saying that doctors may not be able to talk my wife. How grateful I am to Him who has saved me and my wife still gives guidance to enable the wife to speak normally. The other thing the doctor told my wife that fast recovery from pain occurred was much aided by my attitude as husband to go along and motivate him to get better soon. Generally doctor said that I was "exemplary husband" so faithful husband whose willing to take care of his wife to a quick recovery. "Not easy to find a faithful husband like you." The doctor said to me, I just smiled only for praise, for me they are God's gift. We as servants there any advantage at all.
When I was getting ready to bring home my wife to Kota Bharu. I was told by the hospital management that the total bill cost of treating my wife is RM25, 500.00. But I was given by my employer a letter of guarantee that the company will pay all costs incurred during my wife at the hospital by the Company takaful scheme. If more than the amount allowed, the rest I had to bear.
On day 29, my wife was discharge for the ward in the Private Hospital Kuala Lumpur, and asked to continue further treatment in a hospital in Kota Bharu. To bring home my wife had bought a plane ticket MAS from Subang Airport to Kota Bharu. During the lead up to the plane's wife has to be lift by MAS staff as yet she able to walk.
Of anxious moments I did with my beloved wife, our household and family environment before full with love and affection, began a dismal because my wife is ill need others help to ensure her get her daily needs. Beginning on that date I started to think how I want to take care of a sick wife that need care all the time, and also manages the family of growing children who are all still studies. Various disordered thoughts in my mind, then I am only surrendered to God that all of my business and family facilitation. . Amin ...
The conclusion of the story that I presented here demonstrate God determine everything to us. We as humans can only plan for success in the future, but God is able to change all our plans and maybe the result is different from what we expected. Nevertheless it is Blessings, to test the extent we believe and fear Allah. Every calamity that afflicted did we ask Him for the blessings that solved all the difficulties as best as possible. For those who have a high level of faith and piety will feel pleased with whatever conditions God bless, because they believe in the promise of God that all hardships with patience will be replaced with joy and excitement when the time comes. We as humans are just trying to pray and always put our hope to Allah. God has promised that there will be a cure for every disease, every problem happen there is a solution. God always with us. So we must be closed to Allah by perform solat in the prime time everyday in our life. And also we has to follow all Allah directive in what ever we did in daily life. Thanks to God.
