NEIGHBORHOODS IN ISLAM

HOW TO MAINTAIN GOOD RELATIONS NEIGHBORHOODS

PROSPERITY a country highly dependent on the extent to which strong relationship in every layer of society. 

A close relationship between fellow members of the public are some of the characteristics of a quality society, a society which not only managed to create an atmosphere of harmony and peace with each other, even become the most important asset to the country. 

Recognizing this is the very beginning of Islam has stressed the importance of establishing close relationships in the community. 

The messenger is not just limited to fellow Muslim community, even beyond the limits of religion, race, ethnicity, skin color, language and so on. 

Why do we have to be neighbors? Islam emphasizes neighborly relations as it is one of the Islamic way of life. 

In the context of the neighborhood, the Muslim is obligated to maintain good and friendly relations among them. 

This is because, it plays a very important role in generating the local life of peace and harmony that can provide convenience, space and outlet for one difficulty or problem. 

Claims that relationship among neighbors explained in words of Allah which means: `` And ye do good to both parents, kinsfolk, orphans, the poor, neighbors who are near, neighbors who Furthermore, the traveler displaced and also who you have. '' (an-Nisa: 36) 

To strengthen neighborly relations in society, then we must first recognize the need and advantages of the neighborhood. Among them:

1. Assistance during emergencies
Neighbor is the closest to where we live. Everything that happens to us, family members, property and so on in advance known by neighbors. Thus, neighbors are the closest person to ask for help when we are beset by tragedy or disaster such as fire, theft, accident, death and others.

How lucky they are to have neighbors who are willing to help at any time. Such aid is much needed in an emergency, while waiting for help to the authorities or relatives. Only the strong ties and friendship between neighbors will be able to create an atmosphere like this. 

2. Adding contacts
Have different backgrounds neighbors such as employment, education, religion, race, ethnicity, culture, customs and so will add to our knowledge and contacts. Allah says which means: `` O mankind! We created you from a male and a female and made ​​you nations and tribes that ye may know each other. '' (Al-Hujurat: 13) 

Have many contacts and meetings moreover neighborliness beneficial to us. Among them get guidance and advice in a particular field of knowledge or other expertise possessed by our neighbors. 

3. Ensure the safety of the local
Neighbors were agreed and united to ensure the safety of the local area from any threat of theft, burglary, drug abuse, kidnapping, gangsters and so on. 

This can be done either through the Neighborhood Watch Committee, the Safety Area or awareness campaigns. Cultural helping like this is very required by Islam.

4. Maintain harmony of
All things that pollute the harmony and welfare of the community can be prevented in the spirit of cooperation and unity among neighbors. 

The symptoms of social seclusion, child abuse, and many other criminal cases can be prevented if the neighbors play a role and take the initiative to report it to the authorities. 

Do we have to wait until these symptoms happen to our families, that we want to strengthen relations with our neighbors? 

Is not it beautiful and intelligent if we remember previous case, the Malay saying goes `Provide an umbrella before the rain '.

Therefore, to build strong ties with our neighbors is the main condition for ensuring social harmony and the area in which we live.

5. Take care of the welfare of the local population
Neighbors who live in an atmosphere of cooperation and caring for each other, it should be able to generate a program or activity that contributes to the welfare of local communities.

Various committees can be established such committees children's learning progress, human development committee and others for the purpose of organizing beneficial activities such as motivational, program identity and so on. 

All this makes the welfare of local people whether children, teenagers, parents and so forth is always maintained. 

Of course, the secret of the success of this program lies in the strong consensus and understanding with our neighbors as specified in the words of Allah which means: `` And serve Allah and do not associate anything with Him and be  good  of (your)o the parents and to the near of kin  and the orphans and the needy  and the neighbors of (you) kin and the alien neighbor and the companion in a journey and the wayfarer and those whom your right hand possess ; surely Allah does not love him who is proud, boastful."  (Al-Nisa’ : 36) 

6. Fostering cohesion
Solidarity between people is the key to prosperity and well-being of our country. Without unity, the country will be in a mess and people are no longer able to live in peace and harmony. 

To ensure the unity and prosperity remains, it should begin with the good relations with our neighbors. A good neighbor is a neighbor who managed to foster a spirit of tolerance, trust and smart partnership between them.

If this is ignored, then sooner or later it will provoke the seeds of hostility and racism that eventually spread to chaos, disunity and discord. 

So in conclusion, it is clear to us that the importance and the role of neighbors in determining a country's prosperity and welfare. Dreams have a good neighbor is not going to happen if we ourselves not become a good neighbor in advance. Life blessings of Allah also is the life that always surrounded by goodness and prosperity as well as much of the element of damage and destruction.
